The Jimmy Carter funeral in town
Roads in town were closed to allow for the transport of the late President Jimmy Carter's casket. A funeral was held at the National Cathedral on Thursday, January 9. Carter passed away on December 29 at his home in Georgia at the age of 100 and he had spent the last two years in hospice care at home. Carter was the longest-lived president in U.S. history. His casket was "in repose" at the Capitol Rotunda until Thursday morning at 9 AM.
